Novak Djokovic, hit by a metal water bottle at the Italian Open, says he’s ‘fine’. The incident occurred moments after signing autographs.
Djokovic’s second win in the second round of the Open later on surely caused an uproar among his fans and supporters. The number one tennis player on the planet, who was working at a table surrounded by screeching fans, had a piece of head protection strike metal and fall from his head in a video, which was posted online.
An ardent fan who was kneeling over the rail in the hope of getting Djokovic to sign his notebook scrambled his water bottle off his backpack which fell into the player’s head.
Everything was okay until then. Djokovic had managed to serve the ball into the open court but the competitor hit the ball back towards him. The return was strong and Djokovic tried to volley the ball and prevent the point from developing into an extended rally. However, the difference in the speed of the ball and Djokovic’s volley was too big and the competitor’s shot hit next saw the tunnel and was guided through it and into the locker room, thus getting the medical assistance he required.

Djokovic, who instead of demonstrating to people that the post-match interview was necessary did not go outside, had a bump on his head and was seeking medical help at that moment, balls proclaimed, agency Associated Press. He showed also a small injury on the head, which did not necessarily require stitches, as the representative of the Italian Tennis Federation, Alessandro Catapano, informed.
The Italian Open, on X’s post, said the water bottle drop was an accident. The Open confirmed he already got the appropriate medication after leaving the Foro with no concerns about his condition and moved back to his hotel.
This accident occurred shortly after the Djokovic beat French competition of Corentin Moutet 6-3, 6-1.
